Martin Bishop 21 points in profit on the day with a fantastic MAX NAP going in for us. Much more like it after hitting the cross bar with Khyber Kim on Tuesday.
We had a really strong word for Peddlers Cross and thats why it was our NAP. 8/1 in the morning and we were confident of a big run. Nothing is guaranteed at Cheltenham ever and so this was a big run to get up at the last and go on and win a shade cosily.
Obviously Master Minded was the big disappointment, never travelling like in past races and was found out. It was a big surprise as he was an absolute picture in the paddock and the reports that he was spot on certainly showed in the way he looked. I dont think Paul Nicholls could have had him fitter. I think the ground is affecting many of these runners. Firmer ground than some of these have ever encountered and they seem to not let themselves down on it and relax, its basically the same problem as pulling too hard. Many jockeys have come back saying that this was a problem for them.
However it is fair to say that the bookmakers are laughing at the moment, some estimates are that they are over £100m in profit already in the first 2 days with unfancied outsiders like Binocular going in, even a 40/1 shot yesterday in the bumper and 2 big odds on shots going down. However we were 21 points in profit yesterday and now 13 points in profit for the festival.
We have some more excellent information in the office and we expect a profitable day today.
