Chester

Chester is a racecourse steeped in heritage – with racing dating back to 1539. Chester is one of Britain’s oldest race courses and also the smallest with the entire circumference of the race course being little over 8 furlongs (1 mile). The highlight of the horse racing season at Chester is the May meeting – which is sometimes referred to as the North England version of Royal Ascot and it is not uncommon to see familiar faces on show. The highlight of the fixture is the Chester Cup – which ironically is a stayers race of 2 miles and 2 furlongs run over Britain’s smallest course. There is also a significant draw bias and tactical advantage for those that race prominently which has to be taken into account with all horse racing bets.

Draw Bias

Chester is home to a very strong draw bias. Due to the short nature of the track (which is just over 1 mile in circumference), low drawn horses are favoured heavily and a good early position is essential.
