Taunton

Taunton is a dedicated National Hunt racecourse with a relatively tight 1 mile 2 furlong course. There are sharp turns around a relatively small oval circuit in comparison to many of the other larger racecourses. The course is right handed with some undulations and an uphill finish. One of the feature races of the Taunton season is a Class 2 Handicap Chase run over 2 miles 3 furlongs that usually takes place in early April with winners that have included Hunt Ball. Taunton is one of the youngest racecourses in the UK with racing first run in 1927 at it’s current site – so only Great Leighs (closed shortly after opening) and Ffos Las are considered younger.
