Wincanton

Wincanton is Paul Nicholls local racecourse and as such you can regularly see many of Paul Nicholls’ horses in the winners enclosure and it pays to keep an eye on his entries. The course is a right-handed galloping track that provides a stiff test of a horses jumping ability and stamina. Wincanton is also home to 2 recognised Cheltenham trials in early February. The Grade 2 Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle is a recognised trial for the Cheltenham Festival Champion Hurdle, whilst the CGA Chase on the same day in Feburary is a recognised Cheltenham Gold Cup trial. As such there have been many well regarded horses of the highest level using races at Wincanton as a prep run for the Cheltenham festival.
