Windsor

Windsor is a unique race course that is essentially a figure of eight (similar in configuration to Fontwell). This means there are lots of tight turns and horses cross from rail to rail. Windsor has become synonymous with Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes who win an above average number of races around Windsor’s tight turns – very few people ride Windsor as well as Richard Hughes. On the 15th October 2012 Richard Hughes rode 7 winners from 8 rides at Windsor defying odds of 10,168/1. During the summer months Windsor holds regular Monday night race meetings and this are often very well attended – in particular being in reach of London. The meetings are well supported by bookmakers, punters, owners, trainers and jockeys alike and the quaint course is very well regarded by the racing fraternity. The racecourse is also situated on the River Thames and many race goers arrive by boat and there is a dock conveniently situated at the entrance. Windsor holds a number of maiden races throughout the season and many horses start their racing education at Windsor. There are a number of Listed Races throughout the season with one of the highlights being the totepool.com Winter Hill Stakes – a Group 3 contest over 1 mile 2 furlongs in late August.
