Glorious Goodwood is a once a year racing festival towards the end of July and beginning of August each year with the highlight being the Sussex Stakes – a Group 1 mile contest that has been won by horses that include Brigadier Gerard as well as Canford Cliffs, Rip Van Winkle and Frankel to name but a few. Goodwood is an excellent all round racecourse with some tight turns and a significant downhill finish that can often see horses get unbalanced and lose their races where others who handle the undulations can be at a definite advantage. Goodwood races attract horses of a decent level of ability with many prestigious races on offer throughout the flat racing season.
