Perth

Perth racecourse is the northern most racecourse in the UK and features National Hunt racing run right-handed around a 10 furlong race course. When approaching the finish there is either a choice of keeping to the right as is required when heading out on another circuit, or keeping to the left to head towards the finish line. This has caught out more than a few horses and jockeys over the years who have either had to take extreme corrective measures to avoid taking the wrong course and costing themselves all momentum. The highlight of the racing calendar is the Perth Gold Cup that takes place in early June each year.
