Redcar

Redcar features flat racing on one of the flattest courses anywhere. There are almost no undulations on any part of the course that sits very close to the coast. Racing in the area originally took place on the sand of the local beach. Redcar is one of only a few race courses to feature a straight-mile and considering the course is also very flat it is often a great opportunity for real galloping types to use their stride. Redcar holds 3 races of note throughout the season – the Zetland Gold Cup (Handicap); the Guisborough Stakes (Listed Race); and the Redcar Two Year Old Trophy Race (Listed Race). The Two Year Old Trophy is a sales race with £93,000 on offer to the winner.
