Yarmouth

Yarmouth is a dedicated flat racecourse and as such features racing during the flat racing season (generally March to October). The race course is 1 mile and 6 furlongs with a 5 furlong straight and a 3 furlong chute that enables races over a straight-mile. There are some slight undulations in the last 2 furlongs which can unbalance horses although the course is otherwise considered very flat. The course is well utilised by many Newmarket trainers with Yarmouth only being a short-drive from the vast Newmarket training centre. This can make races at Yarmouth overly competitive and in particular some of the juvenile races at Yarmouth can be a good indicator of horses who have a big future. None more so that Dubai Millennium who raced around Yarmouth as a juvenile before going on to become one of Godolphin’s leading horses of all time. There is a Listed contest in September called the John Musker Fillies’ Stakes contested over 1 mile 2 furlongs.
